Oakland based trumpet player, producer, and ethnomusicologist Balkan Bump is back with “Give Me Something To Funk”, his first track since his debut EP on Lowtemp. Having only released music under his current alias since late 2017, this accomplished artist has been making big moves with the support of artists like Gramatik, Talib Kweli and more. By synthesizing balkan brass with hip hop and trap elements and combining them with a fusion of worldly influences, live instruments and lush electronic production, Balkan Bump manifests a sound that is truly his own. Case in point is “Give me Something to Funk”!

Lovers of all things funky and electronic will rejoice because this is one sexy dance floor shaker! Epic trumpet lines are complemented with copious amounts of bass and offset with rock n’ roll style vocals from Monophonic’s Kelly Finningan. The combination of live instrumentation and savvy electronic production know-how makes for something that’s both nostalgic and futuristic. You can literally feel the energy coming off this track as soon as you press play. Which makes a lot of sense since it was directly influenced by touring with Gramatik and Haywyre and was recorded for the most part on the bus…

Speaking of touring you can catch Balkan Bump all over the map on his 2018 Tour with fellow music creators Beats Antique, CloZee, Russ Liquid, and Gramatik. Snag some tickets to a show near you HERE!
