Experimental beat producer Signal Bath has been grinding hard in the lab fashioning his debut album Queen of the Night and we’re stoked to bring you a sneak peak today with the premiere of ‘Bird Language’.
Based in beautiful Bend Oregon, Signal Bath is not just an electronic music producer but a DJ, multi instrumentalist, and founder of Beat Lab Radio. Queen of the Night is a six track journey through the prominent melodies, stomp box style guitar riffs, and improvisational looping over digitally programmed drum patterns that make up his unique approach to composition. With an empirical style that has been compared to Prefuse 73 and Amon Tobin, Signal Bath builds on random anomalies over a mixture of organic and synthetic sounds. Case in point is ‘Bird Language’.
This ethereal tune starts out light and airy with a catchy lead floating amongst hip hop undertones and natural instrumentation. With live guitar marinated in effects and layered over a minimal yet fulfilling composition, Bird Language takes the listener into the sonic heavens before bringing them back down to the dance floor. About two thirds of the way through the track is where Signal Bath’s self described style of “whales having a drug-crazed sex party” comes in…but the chaotic break down has a method behind the madness and eases into a lush ending. I might not speak ‘Bird Language’ but I sure will listen to it.
Queen of the Night will be available in full May 2nd.
Keep an ear to the ground for a possible second Euphoric premiere coming early next week 😉
